HOW TO BEARD
-
Why do I need beard oil?The primary purpose of beard oil is to mimic Sebum, a natural oil secreted from human sebaceous glands near hair follicles. Sebum helps protect and moisturize the skin and is why our head hair can become oily if not washed regularly. The problem with our beards is that our face does not produce a lot of Sebum, so as facial hair grows, it draws what sebum it can from your face causing the skin beneath to become irritated and itchy. Beard oil nourishes and moisturizes your skin to help promote healthy beard growth. In addition, it will soften your beard by locking in moisture and provide a protective barrier from the elements.

How much beard oil should I use?Depending on the length of your beard, you should use anywhere between 3 - 10 drops. The oil takes approximately 15 minutes to fully absorb into the beard. At this point, you will be able to tell if you've used too much, or too little. If you are new to beard products this may take a few tries to get it right, but start with less because you can always add more!
-
Is my beard too short to use beard oil?Not at all! In fact, the main purpose of beard oil is to soothe beard itch and irritation from beard growth, so application is actually the most beneficial during the growth stage.

Beard oil vs beard butter? The main focus of beard oil is to nourish the skin beneath your beard. The oil absorbs into the follicles and provides nutrients needed for a full and healthy beard. Beard oil also adds some conditioning and seals moisture into the beard hair. Beard butter is more heavy-handed and focuses more on conditioning the beard hair itself. It is not recommended to massage butter into the skin beneath your beard, but it makes a great hand moisturizer! We recommend using beard oil in the day after a hot shower, and beard butter at night time before bed for overnight conditioning.

How do I groom this thing? We recommend using a boar's hair brush while growing your beard. The firm bristles are an excellent way to stimulate blood flow which will assist in healthy beard growth. As your beard begins to get to a length where the hair is hanging off your face, a comb works best. This allows you to evenly distribute products throughout your beard and style it if you wish. We recommend not using a cheap comb. The casting often leaves behind jagged edges between the tines and can damage your beard. Look for something that is hand-cut. Your beard will thank you for it!

Will your products help me grow a beard? The short answer is no, but it also depends. There are no solid studies that show anything will help you grow a beard besides your age and genetics. Our carrier oil blend is made up predominantly of Oleic Acid (Omega-9 fatty acid) which strengthens and promotes thicker and longer hair. So, while a daily dose of our beard oil may not directly help you to grow a beard or magically fill in patches, the vitamins and nutrients found within will absolutely help in promoting a thicker and fuller beard. We recommend using a boar's hair beard brush during the early stages of beard growth. The daily stimulation increases blood flow and will assist in the process of growing your beard.

Are your products vegan/cruelty free?Yes! All of the ingredients in our beard products are plant based and tested on human beards only.
