Wildstar Beard Co - Mad Scientist

CAMELLIA SEED OIL
Refined - Cold Pressed
Origins: East Asia
Role: Closely resembles our natural skin oil. Beard conditioning & management, barrier to seal in moisture, heals and tightens skin

Camellia Seed Oil is a highly nourishing, antioxidant-rich oil derived from the evergreen Camellia Oleifera botanical native to the eastern regions of Asia. Hailed as one of the secrets behind the everlasting beauty of the Geishas, this all-natural oil is renowned for its exceptional skin-smoothing, hydrating, and strengthening properties that contribute to vibrant, youthful-looking skin, nails, and hair.

When applied directly to the face, Camellia Seed Oil is reputed to decrease the appearance of fine lines, sun damage, and other signs of premature aging. It is a highly protective oil, being naturally rich in antioxidants including Vitamin E and Polyphenols, thereby enhancing the skin's natural ability to safeguard from external irritants.

When applied to the beard, the oil softens the hair fibers and smoothens the cuticles to give rise to a glossy, frizz-free, and lustrous beard. It is also great at helping to detangle and style the beard without causing stress or breakage. It is a regenerative oil that promotes natural recovery from heat or styling damage. It is also exceptional at soothing itch and irritation associated with beard growth.

Camellia Seed Oil is composed predominantly of Oleic Acids (roughly 68-78%) and is also rich in Squalene and the antioxidant compounds Vitamins E and A. Thus, in terms of texture and nutrient profile, it is remarkably similar to Olive Oil.

MEADOWFOAM SEED OIL
Refined - Cold Pressed
Origins: Canada
Role: Moisture retention, antioxidant, UV protection and increases overall shelf life of product

Antioxidants and fatty acids are the stars of Meadowfoam Seed Oil that make it a feast for the skin and beard, endowing each with rich moisturizing properties and a luxurious texture. This oil also contains the glucosinolate derivatives, 3-methoxybenzyl isothiocyanate (MBITC) and 3-methoxyphenyl acetonitrile, which have been demonstrated in controlled laboratory studies to inhibit the enzymes that degrade collagen in the skin and to help offset the impact of UVB light exposure. This has made Meadowfoam Oil a popular ingredient in rejuvenating beauty formulations and protective sun care products.

In addition to its rich softening properties, Meadowfoam Seed Oil skin benefits include helping to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, scars, fine lines, and wrinkles to promote an energized and rejuvenated appearance. Used in beard care, this oil is known to help manage brittleness, tangles, dullness, and frizz, promoting a silky-smooth texture and vivacious sheen.

The highly stable nature of Meadowfoam Seed Oil makes it an even more attractive ingredient in beard care products. Among other commercial plant oils, Meadowfoam has the highest concentration (about 98%) of the long-chain fatty acids Docosenoic acid and Docosadienoic acid, which are rare in vegetable oils and which are most resistant to rancidity when exposed to oxygen or heat. This affords the oil a long shelf life without compromising its effectiveness.

FRACTIONATED COCONUT OIL
Refined - Esterification
Origins: Malaysia
Role: Repairs & strengthens damaged hair, stimulates hair follicles and helps the blend absorb faster

Our Fractionated Coconut Oil is 100% derived from coconuts. The esterification process extracts only the medium chain (Caprylic and Capric) fatty acids which results in a very light and fast absorbing oil that is not at all greasy.

Fractionated Coconut Oil does not go solid at room temperature. It is highly stable and resistant to oxidation for use in creams, lotions, and many other cosmetic preparations for skin and hair. Because it is chemically indifferent to other cosmetic ingredients, it acts as a viscosity regulator and assists in the dispersion of pigments and other additives. Further, it penetrates the skin readily, thus acting as a carrier for transdermal therapeutic ingredients. This ability to transport Essential Oils and actives makes it an oil of choice among medical practitioners and massage therapists, and is how our beard products are able to hold onto fragrance for so long.

ABYSSINIAN OIL
Refined - Cold Pressed
Origins: Canada
Role: Antifungal, pre-heat treatment, conditioning and a natural silicone

The backbone of our carrier oil blend is responsible for the lush and full appearance of your beard and the vibrant depth of colour it brings out.

Abyssinian is a seed oil which is naturally high in erucic acid, up to 58%. It is an excellent replacement for Argan Oil, with which it shares excellent properties for the strengthening, gloss and manageability of hair, and the rehydration and protection of dry skin. Abyssinian is non-oily, absorbs quickly and acts as a natural silicone for cosmetics. It is a natural antifungal and can be used as a pre-heat treatment for those days you want to style your beard. In addition, Abyssinian Oil is the ultimate anti-frizz remedy.

Abyssinian Oil is rich in antioxidants and vitamins such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, proteins and minerals which all promote a healthier beard. Abyssinian Oil also contains oleic and linolenic acids, which are important omega fatty acids responsible for promoting hair growth, maintaining nutrients, cell-communication, skin conditioning, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Using Abyssinian Oil daily is like taking a multivitamin for your beard.

HEMP SEED OIL
Refined - Cold Pressed
Origins: The Netherlands
Role: Anti-inflammatory, oil balancing and dry skin treatment

Hemp Seed Oil is especially known for having high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as Gamma-Linolenic Acid (Omega-6) and Alpha-Linolenic Acid (Omega-3) that are optimally balanced, giving rise to exceptional moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties.

In addition to its beautifying and anti-aging uses, Hemp Oil has also built a reputation for being helpful in a variety of common skin ailments, such as dry skin, acne, eczema, psoriasis and scars. Hemp Oil is exceptional at balancing our skin's oil production.

When applied to the beard, Hemp Oil is known to naturally calm inflammation of the skin beneath and to condition the strands, thereby promoting their rejuvenated appearance and texture. The consistency of Hemp Oil allows the blend to cling better to the beard hair to lock in and seal moisture.

EXTRA VIRGIN CASTOR OIL
Unrefined
Origins: India
Role: Detoxing, soothes beard itch and provides a strong natural protective barrier

Castor Oil has an incredibly long shelf life and is known for its strong purging and detoxing properties thanks to its richness in Vitamin E. It's great for oily skin, and despite being really thick, it has a very low comedogenic rating, meaning it will not clog your pores. It's a natural conditioner and acts as a barrier to your beard and skin from extreme weather. We opted for unrefined Castor Oil to maximize its protective qualities against dirt, bacteria and harsh environmental situations.

The key constituent of Castor Oil is a long-chain fatty acid called Ricinoleic Acid, which is present at about 90%. It also contains small proportions of Linoleic Acids (4%) and Oleic Acids (3%). Ricinoleic Acid is known for its potent humectant and anti-inflammatory benefits and may help promote beard growth when regularly used.
